Advocacy & Crisis Support
We offer 24/7 crisis support for victims of sexual assault. If you have been assaulted, have been triggered by something from a past assault, or if you aren’t sure if you’ve been assaulted you can call our crisis line. The crisis line is answered 24/7 by a specialized advocate who can assist in immediate coping skills and crisis intervention, information on services we can provide such as the onsite Sexual Assault Forensic Exam Room, victim’s right information or referrals to other agencies when necessary.
Advocates provide accompaniment to survivors of sexual assault who are seeking medical care including rape kits which can be done onsite at our facility as well as at local hospitals. Advocates also offer accompaniment to law enforcement interviews and legal meetings as well as court proceedings.
You have options. Our advocates are here to ensure you are supported, your voice is heard and your choices are respected.
SAFE Room (Sexual Assault Forensic Exam Room)
Our on-site Sexual Assault Forensic Exam (SAFE) Room is an alternative to the Hospital Emergency Department assistance following a recent sexual assault. In our SAFE Room, medical forensic exams also known as a Rape Kits are done on-site by specially trained Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners. The exam is free of charge and also includes testing for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and pregnancy.
An Advocate is available throughout the entire process. You have the option to have this Advocate with you through the medical exam to ensure your voice is heard and emotional needs are met. This non-hospital option creates a more confidential, supportive and peaceful environment for survivors of sexual assault.
You do not have to report to Law Enforcement before visiting us. We can discuss all of your options.
Our advocates also travel to Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital and TriStar Stonecrest Medical Center when a sexual assault victim reports there initially or if additional medical support is deemed necessary.
