Volunteer Opportunities

 We need YOU to help meet the demand for our vital healing and protective services. Volunteers and Donors are the center’s lifeblood. Your gift of time could enhance public knowledge of vital service areas, aid in critical fundraising events, help someone through a domestic or sexual assault crisis, or support overall operations of the safe shelter. 
 
There is a vital role for you with Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Center. If you are interested in joining our volunteer team, email volunteer@dvsacenter.org to learn more and complete the volunteer application today!

IMPACT: The Crisis Line volunteer is to answer calls after normal business hours from the community and victims that pertain to domestic violence and program services. This volunteer will help survivors with the resources needed to make effective decisions and assist them in navigating crisis.

REQUIREMENTS: 18+, Completed Volunteer Application, Background Fingerprint Screening, On-site Training

IMPACT: The Domestic Violence Victim Advocate responds to victims that have been in contact with law enforcement. This volunteer will help survivors of assault and/or family violence with the resources needed to cope, inform and assist in obtaining legal services through our program, advocate for clients with law enforcement, and assist victims in navigating crisis.

REQUIREMENTS: 18+, Completed Volunteer Application, Background Fingerprint Screening, 8-hr Certification Course + some Onsite Training.

IMPACT: The Fundraising & Event Planning volunteers have the important role of assisting our program and Board Committee on securing much needed support, planning, sponsorship, and funding for our signature agency fundraising events.

REQUIREMENTS: 18+, Bio Application, comfortable interacting with the community at large

IMPACT: We value students furthering their education and career goals by seeking to obtain real world experience. We offer internships in a variety of fields of study and education levels, and partner with many different Universities, as well as Community Colleges, to give students worthwhile internship experiences.

REQUIREMENTS: 18+, Completed Application, Background Fingerprint Screening (possible), Enrollment in or graduation from higher learning program

IMPACT: Social Media Ambassadors has the important role of sharing and circulating online communications to enhance brand awareness, fundraising campaigns, events, available services, increase education, and to communicate our mission in Middle Tennessee.

REQUIREMENTS: 18+, Completed Volunteer Application

IMPACT: The Shelter Volunteer provides a positive presence to assist with the general needs of the shelter in order to provide a warm, comfortable and safe community living environment for families. Assistance with donations management, meal prep and cooking, cleaning, children’s activities and mentor support are needed areas of volunteer help.

REQUIREMENTS: 18+, Completed Volunteer Application, Background Fingerprint Screening

IMPACT: Sexual Assault Advocates respond to calls from the crisis line that pertain to sexual assault, program services, and/or SAFE Room and hospital accompaniment. This volunteer will help survivors with the resources needed to make effective decisions and assist them in navigating crisis.

REQUIREMENTS: 18+, Completed Volunteer Application, Background Fingerprint Screening, 8-hour Certification Course

IMPACT: We know each person has specialized skills, talents, and passions that could be of great benefit. From construction knowledge to photography, therapy practice to yoga. We would love to talk about incorporating your unique talents into the center.

IMPACT: The Front Office volunteer assists the DVSAC Intake Coordinator as the first point of connect with clients and community supporters. Volunteer must provide quality customer service to answer all calls and greet walk in domestic violence and sexual assault clients from the community. This Volunteer will assist the Intake Coordinator in daily operations, admin work, and future planning.

REQUIREMENTS: 18+, Completed Volunteer Application, Background Fingerprint Screening

Internships

At Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Center we value students furthering their education and career goals by seeking to obtain real world experience. We offer internships in a variety of fields of study and education levels, and partner with many different Universities, as well as Community Colleges, to give students worthwhile internship experiences.
 
There are a limited number of internship openings each semester, so we suggest applying prior to the start of the semester. All internship applicants are required to complete an application, provide 3 written reference letters, and include their resume along with any school requirements.
